SUMMARY:Becoming WOSB 101 (webinar)
DESCRIPTION:To help provide a level playing field for women business owners\, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting program. \nThese contracts are for specific industries where WOSBs are underrepresented. Some contracts are restricted further to economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). The SBA maintains a list of those eligible industries and their NAICS codes. \nJoining the WOSB Federal Contracting Program makes a business eligible to compete for federal contracts set aside for the program. Firms can still compete. \nObjects of the webinar: \n\nLearn how the U.S. SBA and our Resource Partners can help you and your business advance\nLearn how women-owned companies compete for\, and win\, federal government contracts\nHear about the more than $26.2B in contracts that were awarded to WOSBs in 2021\n5% of the federal government’s prime contracting dollars must be awarded to WOSBs\nLearn how the WOSB\, SDB/8(a)\, HUBZone and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVO) Programs help agencies achieve contracting goals\n\nTo be eligible for the WOSB Federal Contracting program\, a business must: \n\nBe a small business\nBe at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens\nHave women manage day-to-day operations and also make long-term decisions\n\nJoin us\, virtually\, for this informative session! Webinar link and details provided upon registration. \nThe facilitator will be Lisa Wood of Virginia APEX Accelerator. \nREGISTER HERE
