Becoming WOSB 101 (webinar)
October 3, 2024 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
To help provide a level playing field for women business owners, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting program.
These contracts are for specific industries where WOSBs are underrepresented. Some contracts are restricted further to economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). The SBA maintains a list of those eligible industries and their NAICS codes.
Joining the WOSB Federal Contracting Program makes a business eligible to compete for federal contracts set aside for the program. Firms can still compete.
Objects of the webinar:
- Learn how the U.S. SBA and our Resource Partners can help you and your business advance
- Learn how women-owned companies compete for, and win, federal government contracts
- Hear about the more than $26.2B in contracts that were awarded to WOSBs in 2021
- 5% of the federal government’s prime contracting dollars must be awarded to WOSBs
- Learn how the WOSB, SDB/8(a), HUBZone and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVO) Programs help agencies achieve contracting goals
To be eligible for the WOSB Federal Contracting program, a business must:
- Be a small business
- Be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens
- Have women manage day-to-day operations and also make long-term decisions
